| Fun Stuff : The 7 wonders of the world |
| Posted by Christo van der Merwe on 2007/3/25 20:17:40 (636 reads) |
A group of students were asked to make a list that they thought were the current Seven Wonders of the World. Though there was some disagreement, the following got the most votes:
1. Egypt's Great Pyramids 2. Taj Mahal 3. Hoover Dam 4. Panama Canal 5. Empire State Building 6. St. Peter's Basilica 7. China's Great Wall
While gathering the votes, the teacher noted that one quiet student hadn't turned in her paper yet. So she asked the girl if she was having trouble with her list. The girl replied, "Yes, a little. I couldn't quite make up my mind because there were so many." The teacher said, "Well, tell us what you have, and maybe we can help."
The girl hesitated, then read, "I think the Seven Wonders of the World are:"
1. to touch 2. to taste 3. to see 4. to hear
She hesitated a little, and then added,
5. to feel 6. to laugh 7. and to love
The room was so full of silence you could have heard a pin drop. Those things we overlook as simple and "ordinary" are truly wondrous. A gentle reminder that the most precious things in life cannot be bought nor are they made with man's hands.

| Fun Stuff : What does Abba mean? |
| Posted by Christo van der Merwe on 2006/10/16 21:44:42 (1399 reads) |
God is infinite in power and love, infallible in wisdom and holiness, exalted in honor and majesty, He chose to reveal himself as Abba, Father (Gal 4:6). Abba is an Aramaic term that compares to our word for Daddy, a term used to describe a very personal and loving relationship. This is the foundation of our relationship with our Heavenly Father, who is the model of the Abba Heart of Fathering. |

| Fun Stuff : Are you lonely and without friends? - Jacob Ninan |

It is a common complaint many people have, that they don't have any friends. It is true that some people find it easier to make friends than others because of certain natural advantages. Some are by nature outgoing (extroverts) and it seems that they never lack friends, while others who are generally reserved by nature find it difficult to make new friends. But there is also another side to it, that these so called introverts, when they do make friends, may turn out to be more reliable and self sacrificing as friends! |

| Fun Stuff : ALL I REALLY NEED TO KNOW I LEARNED FROM NOAH'S ARK - Author unknown |

1. Always live a righteous life - even if you're the only one; it will be noticed.
2. Plan ahead. It wasn't raining when Noah built the ark.
3. Stay fit. When you're 600 years old, someone might ask you to do something REALLY big.
4. Don't listen to critics - do what has to be done.
5. Listen to what God tells you - your life depends on it.
6. Put action to your faith. Noah could have believed God, yet still drowned if he hadn't built the ark.
7. Finish what you start.
8. Two heads are better than one.
9. Speed isn't always an advantage. The cheetahs were on board, but so were the snails.
10. Don't forget that we're all in the same boat.
11. Remember that the ark was built by amateurs and the Titanic by professionals.
12. Remember that the woodpeckers INSIDE can be a bigger threat than the storm outside.
13. Don't miss the boat.
14. Have patience! The ark wasn't built in a year, and the flood wasn't finished in 40 days and 40 nights.
15. If God is with you; no matter how bleak it looks, there's always a rainbow at the end.
16. When God has brought you safely through the storm, don't forget to praise and thank Him.

A young, new preacher was walking with an older, more seasoned preacher in the garden one day. Feeling a bit insecure about what God had for him to do, he was asking the older preacher for some advice. The older preacher walked up to a rose bush and handed the young preacher a rosebud and told him to open it without tearing any of the petals.

 From a strictly mathematical viewpoint:
What Equals 100%? What does it mean to give MORE than 100%? Ever wonder about those people who say they are giving more than 100%? We have all been in situations where someone wants you to give over 100%. How about achieving 101%? What equals 100% in life?
Here's a little mathematical formula that might help you answer these questions. |

| Fun Stuff : Horse-Sense |

Just up the road from my home is a field, with two horses in it. From a distance, each looks like every other horse. But if one stops the car, or is walking by, one will notice something quite amazing.
Looking into the eyes of one horse will disclose that he is blind. His owner has chosen not to have him put down, but has made a good home for him. This alone is amazing. |
